Fawzia Mirza is a queer, South Asian, Muslim filmmaker and a White House Champion of Change in Asian American Storytelling. Her feature directorial debut The Queen of My Dreams world premiered at TIFF and screened at SXSW and the BFI London Film Festival in competition. It was nominated for 5 Canadian Screen Academy Awards; Fawzia was nominated for the Jean-Marc Vallée DGC Discovery Award for the film’s direction and was named a 2023 Reel World Trailblazer. Mirza co-wrote and starred in the feature Signature Move which world premiered at SXSW, won 15 awards (including the US Grand Jury Prize Outfest) and starred Indian film legend Shabana Azmi. Her feature script Heirloom was named to the 2022 Muslim List, published by The Black List. She has written and directed for TV, including the upcoming Hulu series Deli Boys, executive produced documentaries and her award-winning short films have screened all over the world.
